1985: When the BMW 325i “Allrad” is unveiled at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, its strengths are not immediately apparent. Once on the test circuit, though, the all-wheel drive newcomer displays just how much driving pleasure it offers. Its optimised traction and increased driving dynamics when cornering truly inspire the trade press. The verdict of “Auto Zeitung” at the time was: “The new master in driving performance is BMW”.

1991: Now the BMW 5 Series is also acquiring an all-wheel drive model: in the BMW 525iX the power distribution is controlled electronically for the first time.     Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 8.3–8.1
    CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 152–148

    The figures for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption depend on the wheel and tyre sizes selected. Fuel consumption is determined in accordance with the ECE driving cycle. The models illustrated may, in part, include optional equipment and accessories not fitted as standard.

    Further information about the official fuel consumption and the official specific CO2 emissions for new passenger automobiles cars can be found in the 'New Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption and CO2 Emission Guidelines', which are available free of charge at all sales outlets and from The Society of the Irish Motor Industry, 5 Upper Pembroke Street, Dublin 2.
